Meet the New ŠKODA FABIA

Meet the New ŠKODA FABIA

ŠKODA’s popular small family car has been innovated throughout to make it even safer and better equipped than ever before. Take a closer look!

7. 3. 2018 Models

The ŠKODA FABIA has been given a revamp for its third generation. Its remodeled fascia, featuring a more crisply cut grille and new, more piercing LED headlights, makes it easy to spot.

“The front section is definitely the most striking part,” confirms Jiří Hadaščok, the exterior design coordinator. “The headlights combine with the radiator grille and the front bumper to form a harmonious, modern unit. The car’s new sporty elegance is accentuated primarily by the more finely chiseled grille and the commanding chrome plate surrounding it, along with the triangular crystalline creases below the completely redesigned headlights.”

The new 18” VEGA wheels, designed for the hatchback, lend the FABIA an even more athletic look and are a salute to the success chalked up by the car’s rally version.

The taillights also boast LED technology, which responds a lot faster than conventional bulbs. Retroreflectors have been integrated into the reworked rear bumper to enhance safety.

In fact, safety is a running thread that has also woven its way into the equipment – the new FABIA features Auto Light Assist (automatically switching between full and dipped beam), Blind Spot Detect, and Rear Traffic Alert (a boon when reversing out of a parking spot, for example).

The interior includes redesigned onboard instrumentation, new decorative trim, and contrasting stitching on the door armrests and the centre armrest. The top-of-the-range Style-trim seats and optional sports seats will be upholstered with a combination of Suedia and fabric. The new FABIA will also have an illuminated centre console, and the popular auto-function for all electrically operated windows will be making a return, so they can be opened and closed with a single push of a button.

The infotainment systems will now have a uniform 6.5” display and offer comprehensive connectivity, encompassing Bluetooth®, USB and SD cards. SmartLink+ will also be available, enabling smartphones to be mirrored via MirrorLink®, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The revamped FABIA has the capacity to be always online and can draw on ŠKODA Connect services.

Rear passengers will be able to navigate the infotainment with ease via their tablet or phone thanks to the ŠKODA Media Command app. They can put their tablets in holders attached to the guide rods of the front head restraints. They even have two USB sockets to charge their portable devices. The list of practical Simply Clever features has been expanded to include two USB sockets for charging portable devices, along with a double-sided boot mat. The estate version will also be equipped with a removable LED torch.

The engine range comprises straight-three engines – the naturally aspirated 1.0 MPI 44 kW (60 PS) or 55 kW (75 PS) and the turbocharged 1.0 TSI 70 kW (95 PS) and 81 kW (110 PS). Only the most powerful of these engines can be combined with a six-speed manual or DSG seven-speed automatic dual-clutch gearbox. The other engines are fitted with a five-speed manual transmission.

“We’ve taken years off the whole of the FABIA,” concludes Jiří Hadaščok. “It has a fresher, younger feel to it. It has leapt forward visually and technologically on the back of its more distinctive, more modern components. I am confident that the way we have upgraded this popular model will please ŠKODA’s devotees and fans and will resonate with new customers.”
