He is some 13 years older than his co-driver Pontus Tidemand, but Jonas Andersson has tons of experience. He took part in his first rally in 2002, and since then has racked up numerous wins and podium finishes. Now he is lending his knowledge to the ŠKODA team as Tidemand’s new co-driver.

The pair have known each other for some time, but until this year had not competed together. “Our teamwork is definitely coming together,” said Tidemand after doing some test drives and remarked that Andersson’s pacenotes – the detailed description of the route that is vital for the driver to navigate at speed – were “perfectly read”.

Andersson is no less positive. “I was looking for some new challenges. So when a position alongside Pontus became available, it was obviously the perfect opportunity for me,” he says.  “I’ve known him for many years, and that’s a major advantage when it comes to making things work quickly as a team. We are definitely aiming for the top.”
