ŠKODA sets a new record in May

› Deliveries: ŠKODA delivers 112,400 vehicles worldwide in May; best May of all time

Mladá Boleslav, 12 June 2018 – ŠKODA increased its deliveries in May by 13.4% to 112,400 units (May 2017: 99,100 vehicles), marking the best May in the company’s history. ŠKODA is experiencing strong growth in China (+35.4%) and Russia (+19.8%). A major contribution to the brand’s sustained growth has been the unwavering high demand for the SUV models ŠKODA KODIAQ and ŠKODA KAROQ.

“For the first time in our history, we delivered more than 100,000 vehicles in a May,” says Alain Favey, ŠKODA AUTO Board Member for Sales and Marketing. “This clearly shows that our attractive model range inspires new customer groups for the ŠKODA brand. While we are delighted with the high demand for our SUV models KODIAQ and KAROQ, it also underlines that we are offering the right vehicles at the right time as part of our SUV campaign.”

In Western Europe, deliveries increased by 3.3% year-on-year to 44,200 vehicles (May 2017: 42,800 vehicles). ŠKODA recorded 15,100 deliveries to customers in Germany, Europe’s largest single market (May 2017: 15,500 vehicles, -2.9%). The Czech carmaker posted particularly strong growth in France (3,000 vehicles, +32.4%), Sweden (2,000 vehicles, +22.9%), Spain (2800 vehicles, +16.5%) and Finland (1,100 vehicles, +14.0%) and Greece (400 vehicles, +20.1%).

In Central Europe, ŠKODA confirmed the result of the same period last year with 19,300 deliveries (May 2017: 19,000 vehicles, +1.8%). In May, ŠKODA delivered a total of 8,700 vehicles to customers in its home market of the Czech Republic (May 2017: 9,100 vehicles, -4.2%). In Hungary, ŠKODA grew significantly with 1300 vehicles sold, representing a significant increase of 29.4% compared to the same period last year (May 2017: 1,000 vehicles). In addition, ŠKODA was able to grow in Slovenia: With a total of 700 deliveries to customers, the brand achieved an increase of 13.3% compared to the same period last year (May 2017: 600 vehicles).

In Eastern Europe excluding Russia, the Czech carmaker’s deliveries increased by 23.6% to 4,400 vehicles (May 2017: 3600 vehicles). ŠKODA achieved strong growth rates in Romania (1,500 vehicles, +67.0%), Bulgaria (400 vehicles, +31.6%) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (200 vehicles, +7.5%).

ŠKODA also recorded significant growth in Russia: Delivering 6000 vehicles to customers represents a year-on-year increase of 19.8% (May 2017: 5,000 vehicles).

In India, the traditional Czech brand recorded a total of 1,400 deliveries in May, increasing sales by 12.1% compared to the same period last year (May 2017: 1,300 vehicles).

ŠKODA is particularly strong in China, the world’s most important single market. Delivering 30,800 vehicles last month, the manufacturer exceeded last year’s result by 35.4% (May 2017: 22,700 vehicles).
