True ŠKODA devotees share their stories about some of the brand’s legendary models. Meet the ŠKODA enthusiast Jiří Tlustoš

“She was built in 1977 and I’m the fifth man in her life. It was all fate, I guess. There I was at an old-timer gathering, sitting next to a couple who happened to be talking about this car. Eavesdropping on their conversation revealed that the car was on sale. That was it. We sealed the deal right there.
With her, nothing is too far. Not even Italy.”

The car is still in its original pristine condition. I only added a new lacquer coat. But other than that she’s as good as she was back then. But I realise that spare parts are hard to come by.  So I keep buying them when I can, you know, just in case.

In these 8 years I have driven 9,000 km. We’ve been to Austria twice and recently to the Dolomites in Italy.

And like every old lady, she has a few tricks up her sleeve. When I push her, she can still run up to 110 km/h.
