First taster: a glimpse of the Superb and Kodiaq
Škoda is planning two premieres this year, with new generations of the Superb and the Kodiaq SUV. Now we can get a glimpse of their silhouettes.

“The Superb is the flagship of our ICE portfolio and will continue to set standards in terms of comfort and space in its fourth generation, in both hatchback and Combi estate formats,” says Škoda Auto CEO Klaus Zellmer of the new generation of the company’s traditional model. As well as a new design, the fourth-generation Superb will also get a completely revamped interior and cutting-edge technology. The car will once again offer a generous amount of interior space combined with lots of convenient features. Under the bonnet we’ll find both powerful petrol and diesel engines, as well as plug-in hybrid and mild-hybrid powertrains.
Naturally, the new generation of the Škoda Superb will come in the shape of a modern limousine.
Superb from Bratislava
The Superb will successfully build on its three hugely successful previous generations. The first one in the brand’s modern history (the name was also used by Škoda in the 1930s) was introduced in 2001, with 137,000 units produced over the next seven years. The second generation in 2008 brought not only state-of-the-art equipment, but also the popular Combi or all-wheel-drive body versions for the first time. This generation’s models were snapped up by over 618,000 customers. The third-generation Superb was launched in 2015, and one of its innovations was the plug-in hybrid version of the Superb iV. So far, this generation has sold over 777,000 units. While the previous three generations of the Superb were produced in the Czech Republic, the fourth will be built at Volkswagen Group’s factory in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Kodiaq including hybrids
The Kodiaq will continue to be made at the Škoda plant in Kvasiny in East Bohemia. The large SUV, which was first introduced in 2016 as the first model of the Czech carmaker’s SUV offensive, is also a hugely successful model, with more than 740,000 units sold so far. “The second-generation Kodiaq will take safety, technology and versatility to the next level. We continue to offer the best of both worlds and meet our customers’ needs, so both models will also be offered with plug-in and mild hybrid options,” says Klaus Zellmer on the launch of the new generation. The second-generation Kodiaq will also get petrol and diesel engines as well as plug-in hybrid and mild-hybrid powertrains.
