Visit the museum! See 130 years of the Škoda brand with your own eyes

Škoda Auto is celebrating 130 years of existence, and the Škoda Museum has prepared a unique exhibition for the whole family, featuring dozens of rare exhibits. Witness the transformation from a bicycle and motorcycle workshop into a modern car manufacturer.

26. 6. 2025 130 years

At the very location where Laurin & Klement vehicles were built before the First World War, there now stands a modern museum where you can walk through 130 years of Škoda's history. In authentic surroundings, you will trace the journey from the first Slavia bicycle to a global player in modern automobiles, seeing many fascinating exhibits along the way.

The new exhibition opens with three vehicles that marked the brand's beginnings on two and four wheels. See the Laurin & Klement Slavia bicycle from 1899, accompanied by the next evolutionary step—the L&K BZ motorcycle from 1903. Representing the beginnings of car production is the only surviving Laurin & Klement BSC car from 1908.

Various panels showcase key models that demonstrate the craftsmanship of Mladá Boleslav’s manufacturers. For instance, the 1935 Škoda 935 Dynamic recalls the era’s unique aerodynamic bodies, while the Škoda 860 highlights the brand’s ability to produce a large luxury limousine with a V8 engine—proof that driving a car can be a special event.

The exhibition contrasts prestigious designs with sporty styles, featuring the Škoda Hispano-Suiza (1928) and the popular Škoda 110 R coupé (1971), one of today's most beloved old timers.

From unique exhibits, you move through the charming 1950s to motorsport, an integral part of Škoda’s history. The rare Škoda 1100 OHC Coupé (1959) is presented alongside the Škoda Fabia R5 evo rally car, with which the Rovanperä–Halttunen team won the 2019 world championship title.

Display cases with panels present period artifacts, various accessories, and trophies and medals from numerous races. A special section is dedicated to the 125-year tradition of engine development and production, offering a look inside engines and showcasing the crankshaft manufacturing process—an essential part of combustion engines.

An interactive board shows the growth of the Škoda manufacturing site in Mladá Boleslav from its beginnings to the present day. Among dozens of exhibits, you can't miss the four-story display mapping various eras of the Škoda brand, including its 1930s expansion, the post-war period, and its integration into the Volkswagen Group. The whole family will enjoy the photo booth at the museum entrance with company founder Václav Klement and racer Václav Vondřich on an L&K CCR motorcycle.

One section of the exhibition is dedicated to Škoda Auto’s sponsorship activities—be it the longest-running main sponsorship of the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship or its partnership with the prestigious Tour de France. On display is a 2024 Škoda Enyaq, modified for the race director, and trophies for the last 14 editions, all designed by the Škoda Design department. Also featured are cycling and hockey jerseys.

Visitors can also view a new addition to the permanent collection: a freshly restored open-top Laurin & Klement Si from 1918, originally purchased by established badge manufacturer August G. Tham from Jablonec nad Nisou.

The exhibition celebrating 130 years of Škoda will be open to the public until January 11, 2026
