The fourth-generation ŠKODA OCTAVIA boasts first-class aerodynamics and very progressive lines. The OCTAVIA is now the most aerodynamic car in its class, but it remains the most practical as well. From outside its muscular looks catch the eye, while inside it’s huge. Chief designer Oliver Stefani is the ideal person to tell us more about its design in this video.

From outside, the latest ŠKODA OCTAVIA looks more dynamic than ever and arouses even more emotion. “We’ve improved the car’s proportions, making the all-new OCTAVIA look even more self-confident and bold. We care about the brand’s design consistency, but each model’s individual character is also important for us. That’s why the new generation of OCTAVIA cars displays an evolution of the model's signature double lights at the front and, of course, the typical radiator grille with vertical blades that is typical of ŠKODA cars. The car’s rear is adorned with C-shaped lights that have long been part of ŠKODA’s DNA. The entire rear of the car is now more sculptural and three-dimensional,” the chief designer explains.

The interior is totally new and looks more impressive. The shape of the dashboard was inspired by the characteristic front grille of ŠKODA cars. The armrest makes it easier to control the freestanding central display of the cutting-edge infotainment system. “In addition, we designed a brand new steering wheel, and for the first time ever the all-new OCTAVIA will have an automatic transmission using the shift-by-wire system. The car’s central console thus took on a completely new character that was reflected in the design of the entire interior,” Stefani adds.
