Škoda Epiq has arrived. Bringing new design and technology

The new Škoda Epiq made its world premiere at the city of the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Zurich, Switzerland. Currently the brand’s most affordable electric vehicle, the Epiq introduces not only a new design language, but also an entirely new technical package full of smart solutions.

For Škoda, a more affordable model in the popular SUV crossover segment is very important. “The Epiq is unmistakably Škoda – compact, clever, confident. It brings electric mobility to a broader audience. Simple to live with. Easy to use. And fun to drive,” said Škoda Auto CEO Klaus Zellmer while unveiling the new model.

Modern Solid in Full Force

The Epiq incorporates all elements of the Modern Solid design language. Every line, feature and detail of the vehicle therefore radiates robustness, practicality and uniqueness. The characteristic glossy Tech-Deck Face is now framed by T-shaped headlights, creating the new lighting signature of the Mladá Boleslav-based manufacturer.

The headlights will be available in two versions, both featuring full LED technology for all lighting functions. In addition to the standard LED headlights, the Epiq can also be equipped with advanced LED Matrixheadlights featuring 12 light segments and four adaptive lighting modes: for urban driving, rural roads, highways and adverse weather conditions. The T-shape motif is also reflected in the LED tail lights, again available in two variants.

Epiq First Edition

The unique appearance of the Epiq will shortly after the model´s launch be enhanced by the available First Edition. It will feature the largest 55 kWh battery pack, a 155 kW electric motor and a driving range of approximately 440 kilometres. Compared to standard versions, the First Edition will stand out through a number of visual details and enhanced equipment features, including in particular:

● Navajo Orange accents, specifically on the exterior mirror caps, trim above the side windows, stripes on the aerodynamic wheel covers and framing of the bumper air vents
● Colour Concept with black-painted roof
● First Edition badge
● 20-inch alloy wheels exclusively available for the First Edition
● Orange stitching on the steering wheel, seats and dashboard
● Three-spoke sports steering wheel
● Orange seat belts
● Black headlining, sports pedal covers and decorative sill trims
● Convenience Package and Tech Package included as standard

The vehicle’s surfaces are minimalist, while its high shoulder line and a number of striking details, such as the vertical bumper openings and distinctive roof rails, contribute to a confident appearance. At the same time, the Epiq also boasts outstanding aerodynamics. Active cooling shutters beneath the front bumper, newly shaped wheels and Air Curtain channels all contribute positively to aerodynamic efficiency. Smooth airflow is further supported by cleverly designed rear lights and a completely flat floor.

Surprisingly spacious

The interior of the Škoda Epiq also follows the minimalist philosophy of the Modern Solid language, while offering impressive space for both passengers and luggage despite the compact exterior dimensions. The luggage compartment provides up to 475 litres of capacity, one of the highest in the class. Additional storage compartments are available throughout the cabin, as well as under-the-hood front luggage compartment – a frunk – which will be added to the lineup at a later stage.

Inside, the Epiq uses textile seat upholstery made from recycled polyester fibres (PES), while Techtona material serves as a premium leather alternative for the door panels and dashboard upholstery.

Customers will be able to choose from several interior versions. The Studio Design Selection offers a minimalist black-and-grey look, while the Loft Grey variant introduces a new embossed texture and adds Techtonamaterial elements. The Loft Mint Design Selection follows a similar approach but uses a mint-green colour tone. The flagship Suite Design Selection features seats upholstered in Suedia material with a three-dimensional pattern, combined with Techtona in Tabora Brown. Loft and Suite versions include ambient lighting as standard.

Features of the Škoda Epiq electric car

● Excellent aerodynamics with a drag coefficient of 0.275
● Front luggage compartment with 25-litre capacity
● 28.1 litres of storage space in the cabin
● Modern Android-based infotainment system
● Support for bidirectional charging (V2L and V2H standards)
● Turning radius of 10.15 metres
● Advanced Travel Assist 3.0 assisted driving package

Modern and Smart Solutions

Although the Epiq is a compact and affordable electric vehicle, it offers advanced technology and numerous smart solutions that enhance everyday usability. The infotainment display features a 13-inch screen with user interface running on Android. Operation is therefore simple and intuitive, while users can also utilise applications they are familiar with from their smartphones. Smartphone connectivity is seamless, and many vehicle systems can be remotely controlled via the MyŠkoda application.

The Epiq is also equipped with a comprehensive range of assistance and safety systems. Alongside established technologies, (including the optional Travel Assist 3.0), some solutions are appearing in the Škoda range for the very first time. Thanks to new radar sensors positioned in the corners of the vehicle, junction assist is available, warning the driver about cars, motorcycles, cyclists or users of electric scooters approaching from the side, thus increasing safety when passing through intersections with limited visibility.

New platform, three versions

The Epiq is based on the new MEB+ platform, featuring front-wheel drive and new battery technology. As a result of the revised drivetrain layout, rear disc brakes return to Škoda electric vehicles. The Elroq and Enyaquse drum brakes at the rear axle, as the rear axle braking force is primarily handled through regenerative braking, and the minimal use of rear discs would lead to excessive corrosion. The Epiq uses the rear brakes more intensively and also features ventilated discs at the front.

The new model will be available in three versions with electric motors producing 85, 99 or 155 kW. The first two variants will use a 38.5 kWh battery pack, providing a driving range of approximately 310 kilometres on a single charge, while the most powerful version will feature a 55-kWh battery and a driving range of around 440 kilometres. This variant will be capable of charging the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in 24 minutes.

One of the advanced features enabled by the Epiq’s thanks to its electrical architecture is bidirectional charging. This allows the vehicle to power various electrical devices and appliances both at home and on the move, or to become part of a household energy network or even the entire power grid.
