Preparations begin for the 11th Škoda Student Car, celebrating 100 years of vocational education

› For the first time, the project is being run over two academic years
› Students have started work on the vehicle’s construction and necessary modifications
› The car will be presented to the public in summer 2027, marking 100 years of vocational education at Škoda Auto

Mladá Boleslav, 10 June 2026 – Students at the Škoda Vocational School have begun preparations for the eleventh Škoda Student Car. Following the presentation of the Škoda L&K 130, which commemorated 130 years of Škoda Auto, the upcoming Student Car will pay tribute to 100 years of vocational education at Škoda Auto. Unlike previous editions, it is being developed over a two-year period and will be unveiled at the end of the 2026/2027 academic year.

“Since the launch of the project, we have developed and elevated the Škoda Student Cars far beyond the original idea. It has long been about much more than modifying a car – the students create a complete concept for a new vehicle. That is where I see the project’s enormous value: the students work on it alongside teachers and vocational training instructors, as well as colleagues from Škoda Auto, who provide advice, parts and vehicles.”

Martin Slabihoudek, Head of the Škoda Auto Vocational School

A special Student Car for an anniversary year
The eleventh Škoda Student Car will continue the tradition of the Škoda Vocational School’s most prominent project. For the first time in the project’s history, the development of the upcoming edition will span two academic years, reflecting the significance of the anniversary theme. The car will commemorate 100 years of vocational education at Škoda Auto while also highlighting its high standards and ongoing development. In the current phase, the team is focusing on developing the vehicle concept, planning the modifications and preparing the construction work.

From initial idea to a one-off car
The project brings together students from different fields of study and departments, enabling them to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired during their studies in practice. Under the guidance of teachers, vocational training instructors and experienced Škoda Auto specialists, they gain first-hand experience of the process that leads from an initial idea to a unique vehicle. Together, they develop technical solutions and present their ideas in a way that reflects real automotive development projects, thus gaining valuable insight into the workings of the car manufacturer.

The tradition of Škoda Student Cars
Since the project was launched in the 2013/14 academic year, students at the Škoda Vocational School have regularly planned, developed and built unique Student Cars. Each vehicle is based on the students’ own ideas and demonstrates their creativity, technical skill and ability to turn concepts into real cars. The tenth Student Car, the Škoda L&K 130, celebrated 130 years of Škoda Auto in 2025 and highlighted the brand’s connection with its cycling heritage.

A 100-year tradition of vocational education
The eleventh Škoda Student Car now builds on this tradition and commemorates 100 years of vocational education at Škoda Auto. Since opening its own vocational school in Mladá Boleslav in 1927, which today operates under the umbrella of the Škoda Academy, the car manufacturer has trained generations of young talent, making vocational education an integral part of its corporate development.
