Automatic parking is a useful and now commonly available feature in nearly all new Škoda models, including the compact Fabia. Until recently, however, autonomous parking manoeuvres had to be initiated and controlled from inside the car. But now, certain Škoda models support an enhanced version of the system called Remote Park Assist.

This function is available as an option in various equipment variants or packages, and allows you to control both parking and unparking from nearby the car using the MyŠkoda mobile app.

Škoda Models Supporting Remote Park Assist

Remote Park Assist is typically offered as an optional feature, depending on the market, within specific trim levels or value packages. An automatic transmission is always required. You can check availability with your Škoda dealer.

Mobile phone and key in hand

Remote Park Assist is intuitive and easy to use – you only need to try it once. First, make sure your vehicle is paired with the MyŠkoda app. During your first use of Remote Parking, the system will prompt you to scan a QR code, pairing your phone with the vehicle module. After that, once you've found a suitable parking spot, you can decide whether to stay in the car or step out.

1. Press the Automatic Parking button in the vehicle to begin the search for a suitable parking space.

2. Once a parallel or perpendicular space is found, follow the instructions shown on the infotainment display.

3. If you choose to stay in the vehicle, press Start on the screen.

4. For remote parking, press the adjacent smartphone icon and wait for the system to prompt you to exit the car.

5. Exit the vehicle, taking both your phone and car key with you.

6. In the MyŠkoda app, select the remote parking option and connect to the car.

7. The app will guide you through the manoeuvre. For safety reasons, you must keep the confirmation button pressed during the entire process.

Parking in tight spaces

Remote Park Assist works much like regular automatic parking but makes getting in and out of tight spots easier. Škoda doesn't officially specify how much space the system requires, as it depends on individual circumstances.

Vehicles with the latest version of this function support both parallel and perpendicular parking and can also exit parking spaces. Again, simply open the MyŠkoda app, select Remote Parking, start the manoeuvre, and choose which direction the car should move out of the line of parked vehicles. Should the driver make a mistake, the sensors will detect an obstacle and abort the process.

From a perpendicular spot, the car backs out straight, making it easier for the passengers to get in when other vehicles are parked too close. From a parallel space, the car pulls forward to allow the driver to start driving without needing to turn the steering wheel.

Convenient and Safe

Remote parking is not only comfortable but also allows drivers to park in spaces they might otherwise avoid or where they couldn’t comfortably exit the vehicle. The manoeuvre is completely safe, constantly monitored by sensors placed around the vehicle, which can instantly stop the process if an unexpected obstacle appears.

The process is also interrupted if the user lifts their finger from the parking button in the app, or if they move too far from the car. In practice, this distance is around 3.5 meters, with a theoretical maximum of 5 meters. Beyond that, the system cannot operate. Although the car is precise and reliable, the driver is still responsible for the vehicle and must keep it in sight.
