“The aim was to demonstrate what the technology can achieve when pushed to its limits. To maximise the range, we selected the most suitable route and, of course, adapted our driving style accordingly,” says Jakub Krs, one of the drivers on the record-setting journey and responsible for high-voltage battery strategy at Škoda Auto. “In everyday use, customers are unlikely to drive the car this way. Instead, they will take advantage of everything the Peaq has to offer in terms of driving dynamics, onboard infotainment and comfort,” adds fellow driver Marek Jež, Head of the Peaq model series. The Škoda Peaq 90 has a homologated WLTP range of up to 647 km, based on the full range of driving conditions prescribed by legislation. The seven-seater Peaq’s record range of 936 km exceeded this figure by 289 km, or almost 45%.
The drive was completed in a production Škoda Peaq 90 equipped with a 91 kWh traction battery (86 kWh net), an output of 210 kW, rear-wheel drive and 19-inch wheels fitted with standard low-rolling-resistance tyres. The Peaq model series’ carefully optimised aerodynamics, with a drag coefficient of 0.249.
The largest and most spacious SUV in the Škoda portfolio set off on its record attempt from the company’s headquarters in Mladá Boleslav at midday on Tuesday, 25 August. Travelling through Germany and taking breaks to change drivers, rest and eat, the crew reached the Netherlands early on Wednesday morning before completing the journey that afternoon in the seaside resort of Zandvoort. Without recharging the traction battery, the seven-seater Škoda Peaq covered 936 km at an average energy consumption of just 9.2 kWh/100 km.
The Škoda Peaq is built at the company’s main plant in Mladá Boleslav. The model introduces several features new to the brand, including flush door handles, a panoramic roof with Dynamic Shade Control and bidirectional charging. Customer response to Škoda’s new flagship has been very positive, with the company receiving more than 10,000 orders to date.
