The four-wheel-drive system is based on an electro-hydraulically controlled multi-disc inter-axle clutch designed to smoothly distribute the torque between the front and rear axles in ratio ranging between 96%–4% and 10%–90%.
The centrepiece of the all-wheel drive is an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch. The control unit constantly calculates the ideal driving torque for the rear axle; loss of traction is virtually eliminated due to a control system that is dependent on driving status. When in overrun or at low load, drive is provided via the front axle, which saves fuel.
The all-wheel-drive system delivers a big increase in traction, stability and driving safety – even off-road.
The all-wheel drive is available for the ŠKODA OCTAVIA, ŠKODA SUPERB, ŠKODA KAROQ and ŠKODA KODIAQ.
