DSG (direct-shift gearbox) is an electronically controlled dual-clutch multiple-shaft manual gearbox without a conventional clutch pedal and with fully automatic or semi-manual control. The DSG gearbox offers advantages in the form of user-friendliness (self-shifting), driving comfort (uninterrupted torque flow) and low consumption, while facilitating the use of other assist systems (including adaptive cruise control, Emergency Assist and Traffic Jam Assist). The DSG transmission is a very compact construction and enables quick and comfortable gear changing.
The DSG automatic transmissions in ŠKODA cars have seven speeds.
There is a 7-speed gearbox with dry clutch system and a 7-speed gearbox with clutches immersed in an oil bath.
The 7-speed gearbox with clutched immersed in an oil bath is designed for high loads, and is therefore a good match for high-power engines – e.g. with this gearbox in place, the weight of trailers the KODIAQ can tow is as much as 2.5 tonnes.
The DSG transmission is available for the ŠKODA FABIA, ŠKODA RAPID, ŠKODA SCALA, ŠKODA KAMIQ, ŠKODA OCTAVIA, ŠKODA SUPERB, ŠKODA KAROQ and ŠKODA KODIAQ.
